coming up for air

haven't updated this journal in quite awhile, but have been writing here fairly often over the past couple of months.

big items:

• school completed in march and i passed my licensing exam yesterday!!!
  
• getting ready to go to thailand with kay for 5 weeks -- can't wait to shove my toes into those sandy beaches. we leave on thursday night and it's going to be a blast.
  
• my mom got a new job!! and is moving back over to the kitsap penninsula, about which i'm a bit sad, although it will force me to go over there more often than i do now. it's going to be really wonderful for her; she just got a cute little apartment in bremerton and will be near to gavin, beth & the kids....and her life can slow down a bit now that she's not in the corporate people mill anymore and is actually teaching again! i'm so happy and proud of her that she's being fearless and making another grandiose life change that will enable her to do more with her time. she's had a rollercoaster of a time since her divorce, and it seems like she's slowly getting back into balance--and is stronger than she has ever been. we have definitely learned a lot from eachother over the past 10 years!
  
• with my mom's imminent move, kay and i might actually have to break down and buy a car--eek! i'm loath to take on any more debt until i make a stab at my school loans, but once we're back from thailand we're going to look at the situation and see how much we can afford. i'd really love a new car, but that likely isn't in the cards; something that can haul around my massage table is, tho!
  
• i dig my new job at a little tech company; my hope is that i can continue to balance working there for 20 hours/week and doing massage for 20 hours/week and maybe also have time for other projects. we'll see how it all levels out once i have my license in hand.
  
• i've been working as the producer on a film, which inspired the creation of a production company llc with my friends max, eric and ariel. we've done the majority of prep work and since i'll be gone until mid-june and max will be in israel until late june, principal shooting will begin in july. it's great experience to turn my organization and business skills into the film making industry--and keeping all those artists in check can be tough! :) the plan is for us to shoot 3 - 4 films by the end of the year, one of which i hope to write. i can't say enough how much i love the fact that my life is changing it's general make-up and allowing me the time to focus on all kinds of fun projects and new learning.
  
• miss lu is a sourbraten! but i still love her, even if she has a tendency to brawl with my feet while i sleep.
