"it means so much to me - like a birthday, or a pretty view"

some highlights from this month:

  • 11.12 : brett's and my 1 year anniversary - how wonderful! granted, there were some rough spots along the way but i have learned so much and hope for many more years of loving him.
  • 11.18: my 28th birthday - hello, saturn return. you are my supreme taskmaster.

this past weekend, brett and i went to portland for our anniversary celebration. other commitments kept us from being able to celebrate in style sooner, but the weekend was well worth the wait. we stayed at the avalon hotel and spa, attended the 'language of paradox' performance of the 'enteractive language festival' performance art festival and i had my first professional massage ever! we have been spending most of our time together in the late night hours after school and homework is completed, so it was wonderful to have some dedicated time when we weren't sleepy and getting ready to pop in a dvd and pass out.

weather has been bitingly cold as of late - i'm really hoping for some snow. this quarter is almost finishing up and it's been an interesting initial excursion into the academic world - next quarter i take on english 101 and human nutrition 150, about which i'm very excited. i need to better manage my time and so, to that end, i'm going to purchase a laptop - one of the most difficult aspects of this quarter has been in squeezing in the at-computer time necessary to write, so i'm hoping that having a mobile unit will assist me in being more productive in both work and school.

i've taken time off during the school break and i have not yet decided where i want to go. part of me wants to stick around here and accomplish a lot of the random tasks (like finally hanging the art in this apartment!) that i've been too swamped to deal with since school started. i want to rearrange the office space and setup my mini-studio in the corner of my bedroom so that i can get back on the creativity bandwagon.

life is pretty darn good right now. i feel lucky.
